6th and 7th of January 2017 - Bloc 11 inaugural climbing festival

A two-day climbing festival competition at South Africa's premier indoor bouldering facility to be held on Friday, the 6th of January, and Saturday, the 7th of January 2017. The festival kicks off on the Friday evening when anyone can come climb for fun or compete for a wildcard slot on a large number of climbs varying in style and difficulty, the evening ends with live music and coffee drinks from a SA barista champion! Saturday morning, the wildcards that qualified the night before join a selection of the best climbers in South Africa in the elite leg of the competition. Two rounds determine the overall winner on the inaugural Gravity Bowl and then the evening continues with a screening of the latest, greatest climbing movie. This is followed by prizegiving, a gear raffle and capped off with more live (and not so live) music and drinks.

Friday evening will host the more casual and social "boulder league" style redpoint competition. Try any climb as many times as you like! The top finishers from this evening get a wildcard for the follow day's competition. On Saturday 7th of January we will run a world-cup style competition for the top climbers in South Africa who have been invited to participate, together with the wildcards from the previous day. There will be two rounds - a semi finals and a finals. Spectators can expect great climbing action cold beer and tasty coffee.

Venue is located in the industrial area in Paarden Eiland. It sports 700 square meters of bouldering with world-class holds and world-class problems. Check our page, Facebook page and Instagram page for more
